What are the differences between MagicTrap and MagicTrap 2?
In general, our 2nd generation MagicTrap works just like the previous version. There are some differences in how the device is used.
Technically, the device has been redesigned so it is even better adapted to field conditions:
Improved antenna: A new antenna is installed in the camera modules, further increasing transmission performance.
16-megapixel camera: The new module has a 16-megapixel camera, allowing significantly sharper images than the previous 8-megapixel module.
Autofocus: The new camera provides sharper images even under more difficult conditions.
Flash: If conditions are too dark, MagicTrap 2 detects this and activates the flash.
New LED status bars: Two separate LED bars make it easier to check the device status at a glance.
Integrated GPS module: The device now includes GPS for location detection.
Improved weather protection: The device has been further adapted for demanding field conditions.
Coming soon: We are working on making GPS information available in the app as well.

Please still remove the trap from the field outside the season to store it in optimal condition: dry, frost-free, and with a good battery.
Can I still buy a first-generation MagicTrap?
For Germany and Austria, our sell-off has already ended. This means that only MagicTrap 2 can be purchased. Spare parts and accessories will of course remain available.
Can I continue to operate my first-generation MagicTrap as usual?
Yes, of course! MagicTrap will continue to be supported by us and can be used in the field as usual.
When will my MagicTrap take the next pictures?

I already have a MagicTrap. Can I add and operate MagicTrap 2 in the same account?
Yes, of course! You still only need one account to operate both MagicTrap generations in parallel. You can add your MagicTrap 2 to your account, provided your licence is sufficient, and put it into operation.
Can I buy only the MagicTrap 2 camera module and use it to upgrade my existing trap body?
We always offer the MagicTrap 2 camera module as a set with the redesigned trap body. It is not possible to order the camera module on its own.
The trap body is available in the shop as a spare part, as with the first generation.
We recommend using the new camera module with the new tray, identifiable by the Bayer cross on the water tank.
Can a purchase be made on invoice?
Unfortunately, purchase on invoice is not possible, as for technical reasons we are limited to direct debit and credit card.

Do I need mobile reception at the installation site?
Yes! MagicTrap needs sufficient mobile reception to send the captured images to your phone.
Do I need an app to use MagicTrap?
To use MagicTrap, you need our MagicScout App, where you can connect it.
The MagicScout App is available free of charge in the Google Play Store for Android or in the Apple App Store for iOS.

Why does the app say that I do not have a licence?
When unpacking and setting up MagicTrap, it can easily happen that a different email address is used than the one used for purchase.
Please note: your licence is linked to the email address used at purchase.
For correct linking, the same email address must be used when creating the MagicScout user account as for the webshop order.
If you have logged in with a different address, we can adjust the licence manually. Send a short message to our customer service team.
